Biography
Dr. Ratinder Pal Singh is a highly accomplished Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Healing Hospital, Chandigarh with 14+ years of enriched experience in the field of cardiology, including non-invasive and invasive (interventional) diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. He has performed 10,000+ diagnostic and therapeutic intervention procedures till date, making him one of the most experienced interventional cardiologists in the Tricity region.
Dr. Singh completed his MBBS and pursued his MD in Medicine, gaining comprehensive training in internal medicine and cardiovascular conditions. He further specialized by completing his DNB in Interventional Cardiology, equipping him with advanced skills in performing complex cardiac interventional procedures. In his medical career of 21 years, he has performed more than 20,000 adult and pediatric cardiac echocardiograms, demonstrating his extensive diagnostic expertise.
Dr. Singh has performed 10,000+ interventional procedures till date, which include diagnostic coronary angiograms (invasive assessment of coronary arteries), primary angioplasty (emergency treatment for heart attacks), complex angioplasty procedures (multi-vessel disease, chronic total occlusions, bifurcation lesions), cardiac device implantation (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices), device closure procedures (ASD closure, PDA closure, VSD closure), and various other advanced cardiac interventions.
He holds special interest and expertise in performing peripheral vascular procedures, which includes peripheral angiograms (evaluation of leg arteries), peripheral angioplasties (treatment of leg artery blockages), peripheral stent implantation (iliac, femoral, popliteal arteries), renal artery stent implantation (kidney artery blockages), coil embolization procedures (vascular malformation treatment), and balloon angioplasty of AV fistula (dialysis access maintenance). This additional expertise in peripheral interventions makes him a comprehensive vascular interventionist.
Dr. Singh specializes in the complete spectrum of cardiovascular conditions including acute myocardial infarctions – heart attacks (primary angioplasty, emergency cardiac care, post-MI management), stable coronary heart disease (elective angioplasty, medical management, preventive cardiology), valvular heart disease (assessment and management of mitral, aortic, tricuspid valve disorders), cardiomyopathies (dilated, hypertrophic, restrictive cardiomyopathy management), electrical disorders of heart (arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, heart block management), heart failure management (acute and chronic heart failure, optimization therapy), hypertension (blood pressure management, resistant hypertension), dyslipidemia (cholesterol management, lipid disorders), and other cardiac and associated disorders (pericardial diseases, congenital heart diseases in adults).
Dr. Singh has made significant academic contributions with more than 10 research papers published in international journals on topics including lipid management in elderly population, management of hypertension in young adults, role of ARNI in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, use of intracoronary drugs in acute vessel slow flow phenomenon, evaluation of CIMT and FMD in NAFLD patients, and acute acalculous cholecystitis in dengue infection. His research reflects his commitment to advancing cardiovascular knowledge and evidence-based practice.
He is an active member of prestigious cardiology organizations including Cardiology Society of India (CSI), Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), and Association of Physicians of India (API). He has addressed multiple international and national conferences as speaker and moderator, having delivered more than 30 lectures on cardiology at national and international platforms, demonstrating his expertise and leadership in the field.
Dr. Singh regularly keeps himself and his patients updated about the prevention of cardiac diseases by conducting various social activities, both physically and on digital platforms, emphasizing preventive cardiology and heart health awareness.
According to Dr. Singh, “Modern interventional cardiology combines precision, advanced technology, and compassionate care to save lives during heart attacks, restore blood flow in blocked arteries, and improve quality of life for cardiac patients.” He is medically and technically very sound and believes in ethical practice with evidence-based treatment for his patients. He makes sure that his patients and families are fully aware of their cardiac conditions, procedural details, treatment options, and preventive strategies, and goes the extra mile in educating them about heart disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and long-term cardiac health from conservative management to advanced interventional procedures, ensuring informed decision-making at every step.
